Regular indoor football, sport and other activity for working adults in Singapore

Other Sessions

Posted by rajiv on 10 December 2008

We’ve managed four sessions a week every week since 3 November 2008 (except for the weeks of 24 November 2008 and 1 December 2008 ) – Monday to Thursday, 9 to 10 pm.

Our regular sessions so far have developed a certain dynamic, that has become a standard which the regulars amongst us look forward to each week.

Except for the weeks with Christmas and New Year’s Day, I believe we can sustain four sessions a week into next year, and perhaps even start considering a fifth session sometime in the new year.

With May asking to play at our sessions, various views have been expressed about mixed sessions.

While there are of course differing views, the general opinion seems to be that it’s fine, but it will affect the dynamic of our sessions, and would work better if there is a better mix of guys and girls.

May, you have an invitation from Rajseran to join his regular mixed session at Choa Chu Kang on Saturdays.

I have also drawn your attention to the Singapore Social Women’s Football group on Facebook.

If there is sufficient interest, we could consider a mixed session at the weekend, somewhere more central.

If you’d like to meet some of the guys (and some of their wives!), there’s the FIOFAFI drinks on 13 December 2008, 6 pm onwards, at Scruffy Murphy’s.

Or you could come along to watch any of our sessions. There’s even a short clip of one of our sessions on the Home page.

Anyone who plays with other groups is still welcome to discuss those sessions on this blog.

FIOFAFI is entirely open, voluntary and facilitative. Most of these other groups don’t have their own blog, do they.

Now that there are more female players interested, a mixed session might be viable.

I am considering having two sessions at The Cage on Wednesday, 14 January 2009. One would be our usual ranked session, the other would be an unranked mixed session.

The unranked session could be before (8 to 9 pm) or simultaneous (9 to 10 pm), depending on preference and availability.

I don’t mind playing for both sessions if it’s from 8 to 9 and then 9 to 10
