Regular indoor football, sport and other activity for working adults in Singapore

The Blog & E-Mails

Posted by rajiv on 9 November 2008

The blog was originally set up to schedule regular sessions, and to post Dennis-style match reports.

Since then, the blog has come to include other content and features:

I’ll add any regular who opens a WordPress account as an author, so that you can post new content or features that might be of interest.

Further, as there are sessions at which neither Tom nor I are playing, we need others to be able to post by the following day the session report, or at least a session summary, comprising at least of:

  • Line ups.
  • Final score.
  • Player of the session poll.

It’s fine if you can’t do the report by the following day, just put the summary up first, and either add the report later (as a comment to the summary), or invite the others who played to provide their comments.

At present, only Tom, Shankar, Bret and I have WordPress accounts.

A few more volunteers please.  All you really need to do is put up the line ups, final score and player of the session poll by the following day.   A more detailed report is optional, and can be done later, if and when you have the time.

In the event that a summary is put up at first instance, the report will be attributed to the participant with the most thorough or colourful account of the session. If no one provides an account, it will be attributed to the participant posting the summary.

I have been sending out regular FIOFAFI Updates by e-mail on Monday, Wednesday and Friday since 1 August 2008.  In order to reduce the work I have to do, I will not be sending out an e-mail Update on Wednesdays any more.

I will send out FIOFAFI Extras by e-mail on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays when necessary.

It is intended that the blog should be the primary mode of communication for all FIOFAFI-related matters. If your access to the blog is blocked or restricted at work, I’d be more than happy to write to your employers to persuade them of the benefits of FIOFAFI, including its potential contribution to achieving a work-life balance.

Raj has been added as an author. His name is tennisfriks.

You can appear as any name you want by changing the settings in your account.

He has taken necessary steps to rename himself Santi.

    (Jiv: what have we started?!)

Although there will be no more regular “Updates” on Wednesday, for those of you already suffering from withdrawal, there’ll still be a mid-week “Extra” for the next couple of weeks, starting with one today.

Reza has been added as an author.

No harm in anyone calling themselves whatever they want. I’ll add the nicknames anyone uses to the Contact List. It might be one way to distinguish our several Andys.

I think Reza is sticking with Rezarino.

Murray / Andy M, open a WordPress account, and you can start doing regular reports on Thursday night sessions, and, the now (presumably) regular post-session beer at Scruffy Murphy’s.

Like I said, I’ll add any regular who opens a WordPress account as an author, so you can do a session summary or report, or, if you would like to write about anything football related, including about any amusing clip or story you spot on the internet or receive b e-mail, you can post an article about it.

To this end, NITs now stands for News, Information and Talk (especially since Rajesh appears to have given up on providing us with betting tips).

Of course, even without being added as an author, you can post about anything football related as a comment to the weekly Football News post, but if you’re not an author, you cannot insert a Youtube clip, upload images, or create a poll.

Since Tom first used the new poll function for this purpose (on 20 October 2008), the player of the session poll has become a regular feature of the session summaries/reports.

I’ve been waiting a week before announcing the winner, but by then, interest in the previous week’s sessions has disappeared. I’ll start announcing the winners 2 days after the poll is put up (which should be put up by the day after the session), so that the player of the session for each of the week’s sessions is known by the end of the week, and I can list them by the weekend.
