Wednesday Night At Sports Planet: 8 July 2009

Posted by rajiv on 9 July 2009

The revised line ups were:

  • Whites: Nick, Sushil, Boon Yick, Ron, Dilesh
  • Reds: Azmi, Bobby, Tom, Weeliam, Reza

Not sure what the final score was, but whites ran away with it in the end- Sushil, Dillesh and Nick kept pushing forward from midfield and their attacking power was too strong in the end. Tom made some mega blocks early on but this took its toll in the end. Reds seems to concede too many soft goals, but the scoreline could have been far worse if white converted more of their chances. All in all a good night, except for MJ on loop blaring through the speakers.

Final result and other comments below please.

Reza, I’ve moved your comment into the post and attributed it to you.

As I’d said in the original post, I popped by before the session and watched the first 10 minutes or so. Whites took a 2-0 lead before Reds had woken up, and Reds had pulled it back to 2-2 by the time I left.

Believe final score was 15-11. Besides the MJ music, that tiny ball we had to play with was too small…)

Was a good game. Whites were something like 11-4 up and the reds then scored 4 or 5 unanswered goals. with regards to the ball, i think it was a tad on the small side, however, for 5 a side pitches a tiny goals, thought it was adequate.

You’re right – the ball did cause a fair bit of problems- I’m not sure whether it was the size or because it was quite hard. It did tend to get caught under your feet and at times it felt like it was sticking to the pitch.

Was discussing the ball with Ron and Weeliam after the game. We felt the same way too. And also would like to apologise to Bobby and Reza who rotate amongst themselves to be goalkeepers. I can’t play coz sprained my thumb from the last session.
