Scheduling: 17 November 2009

Although I did not schedule any routine sessions during the interruption from 24 October 2009 to 15 November 2009, alternative arrangements were made for the bookings I had to be used to organize games at the usual days and times (other than cancellations on Saturdays, and Tuesday and Wednesday last week). These were usually in the form of either a routine session or a representative game, but Rajseran managed a mini-tournament on Sunday.
Under the alternative arrangements, Poh Keng co-ordinated the routine games on Tuesday and Thursday at The Cage, Sushil co-ordinated the representative games on Wednesday night at Sports Planet, and apart from the mini-tournament last Sunday, Rajseran co-ordinated the representative games on Sunday evening at Turf City.
In addition, Kevin A organised a couple of games on Saturday afternoons at Turf City.
Before the interruption, the 6 regular games we have each week (every day of the week except Friday) had been covered two posts, each covering 3 games:
- one for the two weekend sessions and the FAFI game on Monday.
- another one for the sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
It was convenient for me to have several sessions covered by a single post, as I alone was updating the Routine Schedule page.
However, as pointed out by Poh Keng, it can be messy if any other participant is taking over the co-ordination of a particular session or game. He therefore introduced a system of copying and pasting the list of names for each session/game.
To make it even simpler, from next week onwards, each session/game will have a separate post on a new message board – Generic Indoor Football For All (GIFFA) on Aimoo. The URL is http://giffa.aimoo.com/. You don’t have to be a member to post.
It will take a while to get the message board going (as was the case with this blog).
As explained earlier, I prefer the term “generic indoor football” to “futsal”. 🙂
Scheduled sessions/games will appear on the GIFFA message board under the Schedule Category 6 or 7 days beforehand.
The more general OPSAGE post will continue to appear on the blog each week to cover other games and activities.
I’ll also continue to update the Routine Schedule (renamed Current GIFFA Games) page on the blog for now.
With the birth of my baby girl on 2 November 2009, I won’t be playing much before the end of the year.
I suggest that for each session/game, a participant volunteer to co-ordinate – to keep track of the numbers and to try to get to the requisite number (8, 10 or 12), and arrange the line ups. If no one volunteers, the first regular participant to put his name down could do it. In my mind, a regular participant is one who has played at least 20 sessions/games in the past 6 months. This can be found in the participation records.
Where I end up co-ordinating a session/game, priority will be given to those on the Participant List, then chronologically. The ultimate benefit of FIOFAFI will continue to be a growing pool of players. I will continue to maintain and circulate the database.
I see more of the regular indoor football stuff moving to the GIFFA message board by the end of the year. However, the blog will continue to be used to introduce new participants.
This blog will also continue to discuss new developments in promoting sport and activity for older or working adults.
