– against the colossus ??

– sorry dun know who’s he’s up against yet – anyway tonight we should see a fair few new faces too – some old ones – and then the usual die hards – so its hard court footie – not for the faint hearted at NUS law campus bukit timah – evans road – new comers – hope you brot your court shoes – else I have a pair or two to spare – for those in the right size –

We shall be starting at 8pm sharp – so dun be late – my mobile incase you need to contact me (for whatever reason – to prove to your gf or mother that you are indeed playing footie with some blokes instead of hound doggying around or whatever naughty things you normally get up to – )

Well well well…

What a game yesterday…what a bruising encounter!! I cant recall the last time we played with so much gusto, spirit and drive! The tackles were flying in and shots were hard and fierce – last night’s game had little flair but it was all industry throughout!

The Royal Rumble indeed – although in this case, it was more like the royal tumble – well for Tom at least! Ha! he felt more than a few times, tripping over his own feet, when he was not tripping others!

It was Tom vs the colossus Rajiv last night – I have never seen Rajiv run so much, play so hard, turn so quick and finish so beautifully – he was a man inspired – one such goal was a smashing finish – taken first time from a corner into the roof of the net – the keeper had hardly any chance to even raise a whimper!! It was rajiv at his best !

Tom’s team had quite a few reliable and steady starters – Teik, Nathan (our new comer) Joey (although at times he was dribbling to no where), supported by a bunch of new recruits from the neighbouring court!

Rajiv’s team was sadly full of carriers save for his able comrade Weng, and of course the hard tackling, motor mouth and no nonsense me of course! The rest of them were as much carriers as I have seen in this entire year save for the diminutive Desmond –

But boy did Rajiv more than make up for his team – hassling and hurrying the opponents –

We were leaking goals like a busted pipe – when countless times Tom’s team played behind the defence (trained on regular Sunday sessions with us) and plundered a few goals – if not for inept finishing it might have been worse – when we were already 2-0 down I decided I had enuf – so I went outfield and immediately gave Rajiv a helping hand to spoil Tom’s party –

When we got back 2 goals one through Amresh’s industry and persistence after some wonderful hassling by Rajiv again – and the other through Rajiv’s wonder strike off the corner – Tom’s team were RATTLED – well and truly so – its been a long time since we last heard the word –

The passes were flowing and it was a more even game – but our defence was still quite shite – we had a Gerrard who tried but was clearly no Gerrard – another guest who insisted he could play holding midfield when he couldn’t hold any ball but only ended up holding Teik’s balls – fortunately our own Paolo Maldini in the form of Norman came and thankfully for him, we were able to contain the offside runs of Tom’s team – the game ebbed and flowed – 4-4, 5-4 and at one stage we leading 7-6. Nathan himself was playing a blinder in goal stopping quite a number of goal bound shots –

Joey were running us ragged with his aimless dribbling – Teik was biting in with numerous challenges and Nathan was giving them some stability at the back – we as usual were counterattacking and using the width of the wings to hit them – Rajiv was hassling and hurrying them into mistakes – Tom was getting flustered and was getting nowhere as he decided to take things into his own hands – tripping me blatantly and pretending he had gotten the ball – ah, that’s good old Tom for you! Ha!

But Tom had the last laugh – cos after one of his fumbles infront of the goal – the ball ricochet back to him fortuitously and he finished it off albeit in an offside position. The goal was 8-6 in our favour then – it was down to the one goal difference and he eventually equalized in one of his moves when one of our “water” carriers lost the goal and in uncharacteristic fashion (with unerring accuracy reminiscent of Raj last week) placed the ball into the bottom left corner and deservedly drew the game for his team – the true mettle of a captain – fighting till his final breath for the team!

It was a fair result – two champions – who didn’t deserve to lose – and everyone witness two old heroes – warhorses – who stood up to be counted for their team – one of course decidedly dirtier than the other – but champions no less – and more importantly the dirtier champion (Tom of couse if you haven’t guessed by now) finally broke his duck and scored two!! Crucial goals at that!

See Tom, I told you not to wear the Villa shorts! Its jinx for you!

It was a truly great game last night – bruising but good fun – never seen us play at such breakneck speed and so hard – its once in a million chance – Nathan / Weng dun worry we are not always like that – we do slow down most of the time – ha!

Anyway, look forward to seeing you in a night game again in a fortnight – I stole another Monday slot on the 23rd so put it down in your diary – Raj, you better plan your travel and tell your china stewardesses no fondling on that night!!

Watch this space – later guys –

Best regards
Dennis

Dennis,
I am disappointed that your weekly match report failed to highlight the hat-trick that was scored by yours truly on Monday.

Such bias reporting is regrettable.

I only remembered 2 goals man – which is the third one??

There;s the one near the far post when you fell over and got up just in time to find the ball fortuitously at your feet

And then the last one was when he finished off to bottom left corner after another ricochet – when was the other again? If you care to enlighten me I would be happy to correct my report –

Best regards

Dennis,
The tap-in at the far post was the third.

The second was the one slotted into the bottom left corner.

The first was a on-two with Joey and blasted high into the middle of
the goal. If you don’t recall, you were the last defender caught in
2 minds as the ball was swiftly interchanged.

Best,
Tom

Erm..no wonder I dun remember – cos I was not defending in either of the
goals – those times I defended I got the ball off you and you had to
blatantly trip me remember? So I couldn’t have been the defender caught
in two minds – there must not have been any defender in those instances

I clearly dun rem the first one cos you were probably so offside it must
have been Christmas come early for you when you scored – fortunately my
defenders got smarter and decided to fall back –

Let’s see you try it again this Sunday bro – I will get heath to play
against you – maybe it will motivate you better – ha!

Best regards
Dennis
