Regular indoor football, sport and other activity for working adults in Singapore

History of FIOFAFI

This blog was first set up in January 2008. The idea behind the blog was to provide a more efficient means of organising a regular game of 5, 6 or 7-a-side indoor football, and to record match reports.

The blog had earlier been set up in December 2007 on Blogsome in the name “Weekly Football”. In January 2008, the acronym “FIOFAFI” was devised, and the blog moved to WordPress.

I continued to copy e-mails relating to scheduling of games and reports on games to this blog until April 2008. From May 2008 onwards, the blog became the primary vehicle for scheduling, and reporting on the regular weekly sessions.

Up to February 2008, there was usually only one session a week. We expanded to 2, then, 3 or 4 sessions a week over the course of 2008. In January 2009, for the first time, we had 6 sessions in a week. At the end of August 2009, for the first time, we had 8 sessions, filling a record 100 places.

In November 2009, the scheduling of and reporting on indoor football games were moved to the GIFFA (Generic Indoor Football For All) Message Board.

A brief account of games before January 2008 can be found on the FAFI (pre-January 2008) page. There have not been any sessions at Bukit Timah campus since the beginning of October 2008.
