Tuesday Night At The Cage: 12 May 2009

The default line ups for tonight were:

• Whites: Wade, Murray, Andy P, player from The Cage, Sze Kuan
• Blacks: John J, Nick, Neil, Alan, Melvin

Great game, enjoyed it a lot. As I had been away for a while, was only too eager to play. Perhaps a bit too eager. At times felt like a rottweiler chewing at the bit. So apologise for that.  After the game, felt like I had been barking out orders (especially Melvin), and I am sorry for that.

We (the blacks) got ahead quickly and were 3-nil up. However instead of choosing to defend the lead this is when we decided to try and get more and I think that was a mistake. I am including myself in one of the people trying to get forward but in doing so left ourselves open at the back.

The determination that the whites had to get back and take over the score was the reason why we probably should have defended our lead. Then we were playing catch up. We fought hard to bring it back to 9 – 9, but then in hindsight, after all that effort we perhaps should have defended in full force. Instead we went forward and tried to win it.

That strategy against the die hard whites was a little like a headless chicken. Have to say though we the blacks battled hard, got ourselves organised when we had to and gave the whites a run for their money. Who, lets face it did try to cheat a little bit with their false penalty claims, deliberate smack of the ball in my face and let’s not forget their time wasting; trying to get me to lie down for three minutes. Shameful.

13 – 11 tight and tough from both teams.
